Denton’s $10K Shot Ends Early at Madera, Eyes INEX Asphalt Nationals in Las Vegas
Madera, CA — Cole Denton, driver of the No. 54 NED Late Model for Naake Motorsports, started seventh after the redraw and was running solidly in sixth when a rear-end failure on a lap 31 restart ended his run early in the $10,000-to-win Short Track Shootout at Madera Speedway.
Despite the mechanical setback, Denton and the Naake Motorsports team showed strong speed in one of the toughest Pro Late Model fields on the West Coast. The event marked an important opportunity for the young driver to gain valuable experience competing against some of the region’s best.
“I’m thankful for the opportunity to compete with this field,” said Denton. “We had a great car, and I wish we could’ve completed all the laps. Still, I learned a lot and appreciate everyone at Naake Motorsports and NED for giving me the chance to be part of such a big event.”
Up next, Denton returns to competition in his 77 Speed Shop-backed Legend Car at the INEX Asphalt Nationals, held at Las Vegas Motor Speedway’s Bullring, where he’ll race against some of the nation’s top Legend Car drivers.
While the outcome at Madera wasn’t what the team hoped for, the weekend served as valuable preparation for the races ahead and demonstrated Denton’s composure and maturity beyond his years.
